2009 Tightlines N2IT Fishing Fall Hibernation Classic presented by Smithville Marine Results

A special thanks goes out to Tom Starns from Whippoorwill Creek Outfitters. It was his generous sponsorship and donation of a 5-Day Iowa bow hunting trip that allowed this year's Fall Hibernation Classic to be a true classic.

The 2009 Tightline's N2IT Fall Hibernation Classic presented by Smithville Marine is in the books and was it a Classic to remember! Saturday's weather was cool and windy, and Sunday's was just cold (in the morning), but the fishing was hot for a few of the teams as Team N2IT Rinehart & Koch came in with the big bag of the day at 19.11 lbs. They were followed by Team B.O.H.I.C.A. Billings & Whitworth with a nice 17.25 lbs sack and the 2007 Smithville Marine N2IT Cup Champions the Bass Fishing Mafia Caldwell & Raney.

But it was the solid performance by Weberg & Holly with their 2nd day bag of 22.56 lbs that allowed them to jump from 6th to 1st and win the grand prize of the $6000 hunting trip furnished by Whippoorwill Creek Outfitters, $768 cash & $80 in Razr Rods gift certificates to take on the Fall Hibernation Classic title with a 2-day total of 38.11 lbs. Team B.O.H.I.C.A. Billings & Whitworth stayed solid to retain 2nd with a total of 32.61 lbs and take home the Flaminn Lures $461 prize. Osmera & Hayes rebounded nicely from their 7th place finish on Saturday to grab the Rejuvenade 3rd place prize of $307 with 32.12 lbs. The 4th place Lil Bits $25 gift certificate with to Blecha & Ewing with 30.63 lbs. And rounding out the top five was the 2007 Smithville Marine N2IT Cup Champions, the Bass Fishing Mafia Caldwell & Raney with 29.68 lbs collecting the Pickup Palace $17 gas pot.

The Tighline Lures Big Bass of the tourney went to Ron Thompson with a healthy 6.65 lbs toad. He collected $292 in cash and prizes for his efforts. Clint Cochran earned $192 for another Tightline Lures Big Bass of 6.42 lbs. Osmera & Hayes (5.20 - Day 1) and Sprague & Brewer (6.40 - Day 2) each collected $50 gift certificates for Madden's Taxidermy for the 2nd big bass for each of the 2 days of competition.

The Smithville Marine & Razr Rods 1st Place prize of $684 & $80 in gift certificates went to Cochran & Cochran who lapped the competition win with the only bag topping 20# showing up with 20.73 lbs. FlaMinn Lures' 2nd Place $410 went to Blackford & Thompson with 16.75 lbs. Rejuvenades' 3rd Place $274 went to Glassinger & Eitel with 16.40 lbs. The 2009 Tightlines N2IT "Take Me Fishing!" Jr/Sr Tourney presented by Smithville Marine Results was a fantastic time had by all. Our 10 teams saw some pretty windy conditions, but were still able to find fish.

Cates and Green brought in the winning bag with 5 nice bass weighing 13.42 lbs, anchored by the Jr Big Bass of 4.75 lbs. Mazur & Cody followed them up with a 10.75 lbs sack, followed closely by Hammond & Stoud with 10.11 lbs.

The 2009 Tightline's N2IT Fishing Summer Break Turn presented by Smithville Marine saw unusually cold conditions for June in Missouri, but it didn't cool down the bite. All but 3 teams brought in limits. The only disappointing part of the tourney was the lack of really big fish, as reports of 5, 6, 7 & 8 pounders being caught throughout the week made it look like this could be a record weekend. The Smithville Marine & Razr Rods 1st Place prize of $759 & $80 in gift certificates went to the current N2IT Cup points leaders Osmera & Hayes with their nice 19.68 lbs bag. FlaMinn Lures' 2nd Place $455 went to newcomers Gardner and Gardner with a 18.97 lbs limit, and pulled in the Tightlines Big Bass prize pack worth $305. Lots of big fish came to the scale with a promising number of fish measuring just over the 15" limit weighed in too and nearly 3/4 of the teams found limits. Most teams seemed to struggle to find a limit as only 2 teams caught 5 keepers.
